Home / Continuing Education / Design Your Own International CEU Course
Bring your professional knowledge, your audience, and your learning goals. Therapy Abroad can work with you to develop an international continuing education experience that connects purposeful instruction with travel, cultural context, and opportunities for professional exchange.
Start with the change you want learners to make: a stronger understanding of a topic, a more informed clinical decision, or a practical skill they can apply within their professional role. We help you consider how the international setting supports that purpose and what belongs in the educational schedule.
A focused course might explore cultural and linguistic diversity, family engagement, clinical education, or a specialty area such as pediatric feeding. The topic, instructors, and participant level determine the appropriate format. These examples are invitations to discuss a concept, not a promise that every course is already available.
We welcome conversations with clinicians, faculty, professional associations, practice owners, school districts, and education organizations. You can start with an established course or an idea you want to explore.
Adapt an existing workshop for an international setting or develop a new professional learning experience.
Build professional development for colleagues or a clearly defined professional audience.
Explore a course that reflects member interests and connects practitioners across settings.
Develop shared learning around your team’s priorities, with space for discussion and planning for application at home.
Your subject expertise shapes the educational content. Therapy Abroad contributes international program planning, destination knowledge, and coordination of agreed travel and program services. If professional credit is part of the plan, the responsible education provider or sponsor must be identified early.
Together, we clarify the course audience, learning objectives, instructors, schedule, participant assessment, and supporting materials. We also discuss venues, accommodations, transportation, cultural activities, group size, and a realistic budget.
Tell us who the course is for, what participants should learn, and what you would like the destination to add. Discuss timing, likely enrollment, and whether you have instructors or a provider relationship in mind.
Define measurable objectives, prerequisites, teaching methods, and a schedule that supports the learning. Consider which local perspectives or experiences would add value and whether host partners can support them.
Agree who is responsible for any provider approvals, required disclosures, attendance tracking, learner assessment, and completion documentation. Approval must be established for the specific course; it is not automatic because another Therapy Abroad workshop carries credit.
Review educational and travel components, faculty or speaker costs, minimum enrollment assumptions, guest options, and the proposed booking terms. Agree what is included and who is responsible for each component.
Finalize the educational information, approved promotional language, registration process, participant communications, and delivery responsibilities before opening bookings.
Coordinate the agreed course and travel program. Review participant and partner feedback to understand what was useful and what should change for a future offering.
Who develops objectives, teaching materials, cases, assessments, and updates.
Who holds the provider or sponsor role, confirms approval, and manages records and documentation.
Which venues, housing, transport, activities, and participant support Therapy Abroad coordinates.
Who recruits, collects payments, funds speaker expenses, and carries agreed cancellation or enrollment obligations.
Which host partners participate, what they agree to provide, and how their time and expertise are recognized.
If the course includes a local visit, exchange, or educational contribution, begin with the host partner’s interests and capacity. Agree on the purpose, participant roles, language needs, and how information or materials will be used. Protect confidentiality and obtain appropriate consent for participation and photography.
A useful international course can deepen professional understanding without requiring participants to provide clinical services. Any clinical component needs separate review of authorization, qualifications, supervision, and continuity.
You do not need to prepare a complete proposal before we meet. Share your topic, intended audience, preferred timing, and what you would like participants to gain. We can work through the practical questions together.

Study pediatric feeding with Dr. Kate Barlow through a three-day course within an international travel program. The curriculum addresses assessment and intervention, including sensory processing and oral motor concerns. Cultural activities provide time to explore Lisbon and reflect with colleagues.
An established audience helps with planning, but you can contact us at the concept stage. We will discuss who the course serves and how recruitment responsibilities could be shared. Enrollment is not guaranteed.
Yes. Share an outline and information about the presenters. We can discuss the educational fit, international format, ownership of materials, and any credit requirements.
We can discuss a suitable pathway and potential provider or sponsor arrangements. Approval depends on the specific profession, provider, content, and course requirements. It must be confirmed before approved-credit claims are published.
These are agreed for the individual collaboration. Group size, destination, teaching time, speaker expenses, services, and commercial responsibilities affect the budget. We do not assume a standard revenue split or guaranteed instructor payment.
Contact us early enough to accommodate educational review, any credit approval, travel planning, and recruitment. We will discuss a realistic timeline once we understand the course.
