Therapy Abroad works with faculty and institutions to design international learning experiences in speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and related health sciences. We connect your curriculum with local expertise, supervised learning, and community priorities—then help you navigate the planning, preparation, and logistics that make a program possible.
You bring knowledge of your students, curriculum, and institutional requirements. We bring experience in international program development, relationships with local institutions, and infrastructure for learning abroad. Together, we shape a program with a clear academic purpose and a realistic role for students in the host setting.
Our work extends from undergraduate exploration and faculty-led courses to graduate clinical education, professional workshops, and institutional collaborations. We also work with school districts on diversity training and with government partners on initiatives supporting teachers and healthcare workers.
Whether you are developing your first faculty-led course, exploring a clinical placement, or building a recurring departmental program, start with a conversation about what your students need to learn.
Our programs sit within an ongoing network of local relationships. Community priorities help determine what visiting groups do, what preparation they need, and how their participation connects with work already underway. Local teachers, clinicians, and organizations bring expertise that is central to the learning experience.
For faculty, this creates a stronger foundation for ethical global engagement. Program design considers continuity, capacity building, and the responsibilities of visiting learners alongside course objectives. We work with you to identify how your group can contribute appropriately and learn from the people sustaining that work.
Connect activities to measurable learning outcomes, student preparation, reflection, and assessment.
Define the distinction between observation, educational participation, and supervised clinical practice before selecting activities.
Bring your study abroad office, clinical education team, and risk management colleagues into planning early.
Work through schedules, housing, transportation, cultural learning, and agreed support arrangements with a team that understands the setting.
A strong international program needs a clear purpose, responsible partnerships, prepared participants, and a plan for reviewing what works. These principles guide the conversations we have with faculty from the outset. We welcome detailed questions about learning design, clinical supervision, community relationships, and student support.
