Your Therapy Abroad experience begins with a clear arrival plan. Use your program’s travel instructions to confirm the destination airport, arrival and departure windows, and available flight support before purchasing tickets.
For programs offering a designated flight with a Therapy Abroad flight leader, you can travel alongside other participants from the specified departure airport. Ask which flight segments are accompanied and how to coordinate your connection to that airport.
Independent flights offer flexibility when you want to use airline miles, a preferred airline, or an airport closer to home. Your itinerary must fit the confirmed arrival and departure arrangements. Faculty-led and custom groups should follow the instructions agreed with their university and Therapy Abroad.
Confirm that your program is proceeding and obtain the current flight instructions.
Check the exact airport, local arrival date, and travel window in both directions. Overnight flights may require departure on the previous day.
Confirm whether airfare is included in your particular booking and which transfers are covered.
Review connection times, baggage allowances, airline change terms, and the name on your travel documents.
Send proposed flights to the team if anything falls outside the published instructions.
Share your final itinerary as instructed so the team can coordinate your arrival. Keep your arrival contact details available offline. Travel outside the designated windows requires advance agreement and may involve additional transfer or accommodation charges. Ask for confirmation before buying an early-arrival or late-departure ticket.
Therapy Abroad works with FlightFox for flight booking assistance. Ask for the current booking instructions for your program. If a flight changes or is delayed, contact your airline or booking provider and notify your designated Therapy Abroad contact so the arrival plan can be updated.
Check official entry and transit requirements for your nationality and route. Review your program’s guidance on insurance, health preparation, packing, and accessibility. Tell us early about arrangements that could affect travel participation so we can discuss what is feasible at your destination.
Discuss your plan with us first; extra nights and transfers are not automatically included.
Yes—ask your faculty leader which booking and arrival instructions apply to your group.
Send us your proposed flights or your question and the team will confirm what fits your program’s travel window.
Share your program, your route and anything outside the published instructions.
