Become a Clinical Supervisor

Bring your clinical experience into an international learning environment. Therapy Abroad welcomes occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech-language pathologists who enjoy teaching, thoughtful supervision, and collaboration with local professionals.

Roles

Find the role that fits your experience

Short-term

Open Enrollment Programs

Short-term open enrollment programs typically involve 8–15 days of travel and student mentorship.

Longer Placements

Graduate Supervision & Clinical Roles

Longer placements may include graduate clinical supervision or a clinical role alongside local teams. Availability, duration, student level, and professional requirements vary by location and assignment.

Supervision

Support learning and responsible practice

Good supervision connects each activity to a student’s preparation and learning objectives. Supervisors guide professional reasoning, provide feedback, facilitate reflection, and help students understand how culture, language, and local systems shape practice. Students participate within the responsibilities established for their training level and placement.

You also help maintain continuity: communicating with local colleagues, following agreed documentation practices, and supporting realistic handovers. Community relationships and the needs of the people receiving services shape the work.

Qualifications

Qualifications and fit

Applicants should hold the professional credentials relevant to the role and be comfortable mentoring students in unfamiliar settings. The current long-term opportunities specify at least three years of clinical experience. Additional discipline, university, and destination requirements are reviewed for each placement.

Tell us about your supervision experience, clinical interests, languages, and availability. Professional judgment, flexibility, and respect for local expertise are central to this work.

Training & Support

The current supervisor pathway includes self-guided preparation and support from Therapy Abroad staff and in-country teams. First-time open enrollment supervisors work alongside an experienced supervisor. Confirm the training, staffing, and responsibilities for your specific assignment during the interview process.

Covered Expenses

Short-term supervisor opportunities currently include travel-related expenses such as flights, lodging, meals, local transportation, travel insurance, and scheduled excursions. Longer-term arrangements depend on the role. Your offer should specify covered expenses, any compensation, and the duration of the commitment.

Apply

Apply and explore the fit

Complete the supervisor application with your background and availability. When a suitable position is available, our team can arrange an interview. An application expresses interest and does not guarantee an assignment.
