Explore university coverage, professional perspectives, and research relevant to international health sciences education. This collection connects readers with original sources and identifies how each item relates to Therapy Abroad.

Drexel University Elkins Park news website • September 17, 2026 • University news • Belize • SLP and OT
This university feature explicitly identifies Therapy Abroad as the coordinator of a ten-day experience involving SLP and OT students. Faculty and students describe interprofessional activities, supervision, and work with families. It provides a view into a program experience; it is not a controlled evaluation of outcomes.
Salus at Drexel University • September 17, 2024 • University news • Belize • SLP and OT
A report on a Therapy Abroad-coordinated visit describes student experiences with interprofessional care and camp activities. It includes reflections from faculty and students that can help prospective partners picture the learning environment. The reflections are accounts of experience, rather than systematically measured research findings.
Chad Allen • Therapy Abroad • November 5, 2025 • Commentary and literature discussion
A discussion of questions about study abroad outcomes and the need for stronger evidence in allied health education. It invites faculty collaboration on research. This is Therapy Abroad’s commentary, not an original peer-reviewed study of program participants.
The following papers offer context for developing research questions. They are not presented as studies of Therapy Abroad or as evidence that our programs produce the same outcomes.
Mannel, R. L., Calabrese, J., Pappan, M., and Dissen, A. • 2024 • The Internet Journal of Allied Health Sciences and Practice, 22(2), Article 14 • Qualitative research
Interviews with eight practitioners explored perceived personal and professional benefits of international travel. The study offers ideas for questions about cultural awareness and practice. Its small, purposive convenience sample and retrospective accounts limit generalization and causal interpretation. No Therapy Abroad program evaluation was established from the reviewed abstract.
Andonian, L., and Chang, M. • 2025 • Journal of Occupational Therapy Education, 9(4) • Quantitative research
A pretest–posttest study of an online OT study abroad course illustrates how faculty can align measures with learning objectives. Response counts differed between pretest and posttest, and the online context limits direct comparison with in-person travel. It is included as related methodology, not evidence about Therapy Abroad.
