Preparing for your trip

2 questions
Q

How much spending money should I bring

Based on what students have told us, we recommend $100 to $300 USD, depending on whether you want to purchase souvenirs and gifts. They are usually less expensive in other countries where you will be compared to the U.S.

Q

Can I bring my cell phone?

Yes. In fact we recommend that you bring your phone as a way to stay connected with loved ones back home and to use for things like taking pictures and notes. Wifi and cell service are available on most of our programs, but you will need to check with your individual carrier to find out about rates for calls, text, and data plans.

Q

How much do flights cost?

Flights to each country are different prices and vary depending on your trip date. Please check the program pages for information about international group flight prices.

Q

How do I reserve my space on the international group flights organized by Therapy Abroad?

Therapy Abroad has arranged group itineraries from major hubs in the USA to each of our host countries. Over 95% of our students choose the group flight option.

Once you have been accepted onto a Therapy Abroad program, you will receive a link to reserve your group flight. You can purchase your flight and reserve a domestic connection immediately or pay a small deposit and make your flight payment at a later date.

In certain situations, we understand that students will prefer to make their own international travel arrangements, such as when aative has a discounted fare available or frequent flyer miles they want to use. While we can accommodate such requests, we strongly encourage students to fly on the group itinerary. In some situations, students who apply very late in the season may be required to make their own airfare arrangements when group seats on escorted flights are no longer available. We will still be happy to assist in finding the best available flight option.

Q

Group flights are arranged only as a convenience. Therapy Abroad works with Student Universe to provide group flights with incredible flight flexibility, allowing changes and deviations, layover flexibility, and refunds for flight cancellations. Therapy Abroad also also provides 24-hour travel assistance before and after your flights. Traveling with the Therapy Abroad group will ensure a smooth arrival and departure. Our team will help manage your reservation from beginning to end. Traveling with your group is also a great way to get to know your team and make sure you have others to support you during your travels in case of unexpected delays or other issues.

Q

Can I use frequent flier miles to purchase my ticket?

In certain situations, we understand that students will prefer to make their own international travel arrangements, such as when aative has a discounted fare available or frequent flyer miles they want to use. While we can accommodate such requests, we strongly encourage students to fly on the group itinerary.
