When Can I Start My Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY)?
We are now accepting applications for CFY Placements in Turks & Caicos for 2026 and 2027!

Where Will My SLP Clinical Fellowship Placement Be Located?
Our Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) in Speech-Language Pathology takes place in the breathtaking Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI), a British Overseas Territory located at the southeastern end of the Bahamas. Comprised of 40 islands and cays—eight of which are inhabited—TCI offers an unparalleled blend of natural beauty and cultural richness. Ninety percent of the population is of African heritage, and while English is the official language, the islands’ culture reflects a vibrant fusion of traditions and customs rooted in the native Taíno and Lucayan peoples, African ancestry, and the influences of French and Spanish explorers. Fellows will immerse themselves in this dynamic cultural landscape, gaining a deeper appreciation for the historical and social context that shapes communication and service delivery in the region.
Professionally, CFY participants work under the direct supervision of licensed speech-language pathologists, providing evaluation and intervention services to children across a variety of settings, including schools, clinics, and community-based programs. Fellows address a wide range of communication disorders, often working with clients who have had limited or no prior access to SLP services. This environment offers unique opportunities to develop clinical creativity, cultural competence, and resourcefulness in service delivery.
Outside of clinical work, fellows are encouraged to engage with the community through outreach projects, professional development workshops, and collaboration with local educators, healthcare providers, and nonprofit organizations. The program fosters both professional growth and personal transformation, equipping fellows with the skills to navigate cross-cultural communication, advocate for underserved populations, and contribute meaningfully to global health initiatives. By the end of the fellowship, participants emerge not only as confident, independent clinicians but also as culturally informed professionals ready to serve diverse communities anywhere in the world.

Who Should Apply for the SLP Clinical Fellowship Year?
This program is ideal for recent graduates in Speech-Language Pathology who are eager to complete their Clinical Fellowship Year while making a tangible difference in an underserved community. It’s designed for adaptable, resourceful, and culturally curious professionals who want to grow their clinical expertise in a setting that offers both challenge and inspiration. Fellows should be motivated to work with limited resources at times, collaborate across disciplines, and engage deeply with a diverse population whose communication needs are shaped by a rich cultural heritage. If you’re passionate about providing high-quality care, committed to cultural humility, and excited to live and work in a beautiful island environment, this CFY offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to launch your career with global impact.
